Camp Mauchatea , Rhode Island 's Summer Camp Experience !

Starting as a weekend volunteer program for 15 children staffed by state social workers, Rhode Island 's summer camp program for children who are blind and visually impaired is currently in its 17th year and provides a social and recreational camp for 50 children. The journey to secure funding, arrange accommodative activities, hire counselors willing to work for a modest stipend, supervise 50 children ages 6-18, and the interesting stories along the way will be highlighted.

Camp Inter-Actions
New Durham, NH      

One- Week Session:  Music Camp   July 1- 6, 2007 
Two-Week Session:  Traditional Camp Program   July 8- 20, 2007

A summer camp experience for boys and girls ages 8-15, who are blind or visually impaired.   Children from all states are welcome!
Camp Inter-Actions is set on a 300-acre site with waterfront on crystal clear Merrymeeting Lake. 
Facilities include: spacious bunk houses, playing fields, hiking trails, two waterfront areas, and a low challenge course. 

Camp Inter-Actions is an ideal setting for a traditional summer camp experience.
Through challenging and rewarding experiences the campers will make new friends, learn new skills, gain self-confidence, and develop independence. All program activities are designed in a safe and fun environment for children who are blind or visually impaired.

New!   One- Week Session:  Music Camp   July 1- 6, 2007 
Ages 8-16
Music Director, Duy Bui, Manhattan School of Music

Join us at Camp Inter-Actions as we explore Music around the World, Folk Music, Harmonica, Ethnic Percussion, Songwriting, and Introduction to Braille Music.   
Other traditional camp activities to include: swimming and waterfront activities, adapted sports and games, and the talent show! 

Two-Week Session:  Traditional Camp Program   July 8- 20, 2007
Activities include: swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, arts and crafts, woodworking, music, sports, initiative games, challenge course activities, and daily living skills. 
All activities are incorporated into fun-filled days! 

Staff:
An experienced staff trained in education, orientation and mobility, a trained and licensed waterfront counselor, and nurse will be present throughout the camping experience. 
A counselor in training program includes high school students who are blind or visually impaired, providing a role model for the younger children.

Inter-Actions is a non-profit organization providing summer camping and recreational programming for children who are blind or visually impaired.
